This beautiful brooch is circa 1980s. It is fashioned from 18k yellow gold and set with diamonds and golden yellow sapphires. There are 14 round brilliant cut diamonds that have a total weight of .50 Cts. The diamonds are VS clarity and G-H in color. There are 36 calibre cut sapphires for a total weight of 4.75 Cts. and they are VS in clarity and are a rich golden yellow. The eyes of the bee are cabochon cut emeralds and the overall weight of the brooch is 7.5 grams. The bee measures 1 x 1 inch and the condition is excellent. According to the appraisal there is a sapphire missing but I could not find where with a 10 power loop. The appraisal is done with a microscope so it is maybe something very tiny that I cannot find, it certainly cannot be seen when worn. The retail replacement value is $3950.00 and the independent appraisal is included when purchased, it can also be faxed to you upon request. Note: The yellow sapphires are a bit brighter golden yellow than my pictures show.
